Avoid clashes, Wen says at trilateral summit

JEJU ISLAND, ROK - There is an urgent need to defuse the fallout of the sinking of a Republic of Korea (ROK) warship, Premier Wen Jiabao said on Sunday, calling on leaders in the region to push for peace and avoid clashes.

Wen's remarks came at the end of a weekend trilateral summit, which was scheduled to focus on trade but was overshadowed by the sinking of the Cheonan in March.

Shanghai has had a much needed, and well-deserved, facelift, just as Beijing did before the 2008 Olympics. Today, it is nothing like the city I remember from the 1980s.

Huang Zhikun, 37, practices singing using a hoe stick as a stand microphone while he works on his farmland in Changsha, capital city of central China's Hunan province. The farmer advanced into top 35 with his charm and musical creativity when he joined a show similar to American Idol.
