Poems about China

Silk unfurled it waits
serenely for touch
of hair of goat and wolf.
Pool of ink and water
mirror sky above
in a dark reflection.
He sits in patience
while the plum blossoms
whisper of their beauty.
Within the artist
he forms each brushstroke,
painting petals in air.
Careful rehearsal
captures in the lines
the spirit of the tree.
Painting in his mind
elegant, complete -
and now he will begin.
